pearOS Monterey: Install PearOS on PC | macOS Linux Distro

You’ve probably heard of macOS Monterey, which is the latest operating system for Apple computers that replaces macOS Big Sur. However, did you know that there is an operating system that is similar to macOS but is a Linux distro with a macOS-like theme and appearance? If you didn’t already know, now you do. Because pearOS is a Linux distribution with macOS-like functionality (Kinda). And in this article, I’ll show you how to install PearOS on your computer using a virtual machine.

Install PearOS on PC

It’s a new Linux distribution based on Ubuntu, but with a macOS-like appearance. On their official website, I can currently see PearOS Catalina, PearOS ThiccSur, and ultimately PearOS Monterey. I’m going to utilize VirtualBox for this post, and then I’ll install PearOS Monterey inside of it.

Step #1. I’ll utilize open-source virtualization software because PearOS Monterey

Step #2. After you’ve downloaded the necessary software, you’ll need to install it on your computer. Then you’ll need to establish a separate virtual machine dedicated to PearOS; you may call it Ubuntu if you want. Alternatively, you can follow the methods outlined below.

  • Open VirtualBox and go to the webpage to the new button.
  • When the virtual machine wizard in VirtualBox is launched, select expert mode.

Step #2. Give the virtual machine a name and ensure that the operating system type is Linux with the other 64-bit Linux operating system. You can use the screenshot below as a guide.

Step #3. You must specify how much storage you require for PearOS Monterey. For testing purposes, I’ll use 100 GB of storage, however 20 GB will enough.

Step #4. From the settings, we must connect PearOS Monterey to the Virtual Machine. Add the ISO Image to VM under the settings> Storage section.

Step #5. At this point, we’ll begin installing PearOS Monterey on a Windows PC using VirtualBox. So, on the homepage, click the start button.

Step #6. After turning on the VM, wait a few moments for the OS to boot up. To install the PearOS Monetary, double-click on the PearOS Monterey icon.

1. Select a language and then proceed to the next step.

2. Move on after you’ve chosen your destination.

3. Select a keyboard and then proceed to the next step.

4. To wipe everything and move on to the next stage, click Wipe the disk.

5. Fill up the blanks with your personal information and a password.

6. Wait until all of the files have been copied to the Virtual machine.

 

7. After the installation is complete, restart the computer and ensure that the PearOS Monterey ISO is no longer present.

Summary:

If you’ve never used a macOS operating system before, you won’t be able to install it on a virtual machine or on a PC. It’s a good chance to at least get a feel for how macOS’ interface settings work. PearOS is a free and open-source operating system that you may install on your computer or virtual machine.
