How To Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool

In this tutorial, learn how to use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool.

The Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner program is aimed at expert computer users and can resolve a variety of issues (such as removing old Adobe software, cleaning corrupt installation files, and fixing your host files to establish a connection with Adobe servers).

What is the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool?

The Creative Cloud Cleaner application is a solution for advanced users who want to clean up corrupted installs. It deletes or corrects problematic files, as well as resolves permission issues in registry keys.

When should I use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner tool?

In the event of these problems, use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool while taking the necessary precautions (such as backing up pertinent folders).

  • You’ve already attempted to repair or uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop software, but you still can’t update or install it.
  • You wish to get rid of all older Adobe applications.
  • Even though you’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the Creative Cloud software, it still won’t launch.
  • Even after several attempts and after trying these common solutions, you are unable to sign in to Adobe apps.
  • Even after trying these common solutions, you can’t connect to Adobe servers and have limited access to Adobe apps and services.

Important first steps

To avoid data loss, make sure to follow these instructions before using the Creative Cloud Cleaner application. Always double-check that you’ve made the appropriate backups of your files and directories.

1. To make a backup of your log files, run the log collector tool.

Why run the log collector tool? If you come into a mistake using the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool and decide to contact us, the logs make it easier for Adobe Customer Care to assist you.

2. In the Creative Cloud desktop app, you may check the sync status of your Creative Cloud files’ sync. Wait until all of your files are completely synced.

It’s possible that files that aren’t linked to your Creative Cloud account will be lost.

3. In Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor, close Adobe Desktop Service and Core Sync.

4. Make a copy of the following link:

In MACOS

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/

(If the library content is hidden for you, see Can’t see user library files in MacOS  X 10.7 and later.)

In WINDOWS

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync

Don’t have enough space? If you’ve ran out of space, go to the following path and save a copy of the cloudnative folder.

In MACOS

~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/CoreSync/cloudnative/

In WINDOWS

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync\cloudnative

5. Close any Adobe programs that are open, including the Creative Cloud desktop app.

6. Quit the remaining Adobe background processes in Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (macOS).

  • Creative Cloud
  • CCXProcess
  • CCLibrary
  • CoreSync helper
  • Adobe IPC Broker
  • armsvc
  • AGS Service

7. All content in Adobe product folders, including third-party plug-ins and preference files, should be copied.

Is there, for example, a third-party Adobe XD plug-in you’ve been using or a Photoshop workspace you’ve saved? Make a copy of the folders you have on hand. See Migrate presets, actions, and settings for further information on how to migrate presets, actions, and settings in Photoshop.

8. Save a copy of your old installer files if you’re deleting older Adobe programs.

Caution: Only the two most recent versions of your Creative Cloud apps are available for download from Adobe. If you require continuing access to prior versions, make sure you have a way to reinstall them, such as discs or previously stored installers (downloads for older versions are no longer provided by Adobe).

9. Before you run the tool, be sure you’ve taken all of the essential measures by backing up your data.
