In a launch ceremony on June 24, 2021, Microsoft announced the official release of the Windows 11 Operating System.

According to fans, the live launch event was fantastic, demonstrating all of Win 11’s new features as well as speed improvements.

After that, fans were ecstatic and began looking for a Windows 11 ISO file to download and install.

Although Microsoft has yet to release the official ISO Image file, the leaked consumer client version of Windows 11 is available.

But first, let’s talk about the procedure.

Please double-check that you have everything you need, including the Windows 11 ISO for VirtualBox.

After that, I recommend using the PC Health Check app before installing Windows 11. Because you’ll be able to tell if your device is compatible with the latest Windows OS.

Although there is now no official Windows 11 Media Creation Tool available, you will need to obtain the ISO file from a third-party source. You can proceed once you have completed all of the files.

However, you can use these given links for downloading all files.

Once you are ready with all the files, move next steps.

Important: Make sure your device supports TPM 2.0 and that virtualization technologies such as AMD-V, Hyper-V, or VT-x are activated in the BIOS.

Let’s get started.

1. Download and Install VirtualBox Application

To begin, download and install Oracle VM VirtualBox on your PC/computer or laptop. Once the.exe file has been downloaded, double-click it and follow the on-screen instructions to correctly install it.

2. Install Virtualbox Extension Pack

Oracle Corporation’s Virtualbox Extension Pack is a fantastic tool. This truly aids in the enhancement and addition of features to the Virtualbox system. You may gain capabilities like Drag & Drop, Mouse Integration, Internet Connectivity, USB support, and many more cool features by installing this plugin.

To install the extension pack file, double-click on it after downloading it, then select Install.

3. Open Virtualbox VM Manager

After you’ve installed both the Virtualbox app and the Extension pack, open the Virtualbox.exe file from your desktop.

4. Create Windows 11 Virtual Machine

To create a Windows 11 virtual machine in Virtualbox, click the New icon on the right-hand side area.

Now a dialog box with the Name and operating system will appear, now type the Name of the virtual machine and type of OS & its version. Enter the virtual machine’s name and the type and version of the operating system. Because we want to install Windows 11 on a Virtualbox virtual machine, write “Windows 11 VM” in the Name field, then pick Microsoft Windows as the Type and Windows 10 as the Version (64-bit). Now press the Next button.

5. Assign Virtual Machine RAM Memory

It’s time to allot virtual machine RAM Memory after you’ve constructed the Win 11 virtual machine. The recommended memory amount for Windows 11 is 4GB (4096 MB). So move the slider around and then click Next.

Important: I recommend allocating RAM memory only till the slider turns green. (It’s not a good idea to allocate more than half of your RAM.)

6. Create Virtual Hard Disk

It’s time to establish a virtual hard drive after you’ve allotted RAM memory for the virtual system. Choose “Create a virtual hard disk now” from the Hard disk section, then click Create.

Select VDI (Virtualbox Disk Image) as the file type under the Hard disk file type column, and then click Next.

Choose Dynamically allocated as storage type from the Storage on physical hard disk section and then tap on Next.

After that, choose the virtual hard drive’s File location and size, and then choose Create. ( Please ensure that the file’s location has enough free space )

You have now successfully generated the Win 11 virtual machine, which is ready to use. But, before we run it, there are a few things we need to set up.

7. Setting up Virtual Machine

Now we’ll go through some basic settings, such as processors, display memory, USB ports, and Windows boot settings. So, select the Windows 11 Virtual Machine and then the Settings icon.

Now comes the Storage Settings section, which is critical for Windows 11 installation. Select the Empty CD symbol from the Storage Devices panel. Then, on the right-hand side part, click on the CD button, then select a disk file... ( Basically, this will allow you to boot directly from an ISO file rather than from a USB drive.)

Then, go to your computer’s directory and find the Windows 11 ISO Image File, which you can then pick and tap open. ( The Insider Preview ISO Image can also be used here.)

And that’s it! After you’ve completed all of the settings, your Windows 11 Virtualbox virtual machine is ready to use.

Note: Make sure your PC meets the Windows 11 minimum requirements before installing it.

8. Run Windows 11 VM Virtualbox

Go to the Virtualbox Manager and next, choose the Windows 11 VM machine and then tap on Start.

It will now begin loading the Windows OS setup files. Then, according to your choices, follow all of the on-screen directions and install it properly.

Finally, you’ll notice that Virtualbox is running Windows 11.

Note: If you see an error message such as “Your PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11,” check the compatibility of your computer/PC or laptop using the PC health check app listed above.

For the time being, that’s all I have to say…

Conclusion

That’s how you can use Virtualbox to effortlessly download and install Windows 11 on a virtual computer. And this is the ideal way to run a fresh Windows operating system without causing damage to your host computer. Microsoft has, however, officially issued the Win 11 Insider Preview build 22000 ISO, which you may use in the same way.

If you’re using VMware Workstation, you may also use the above file, although the steps are slightly different.
