So let me explain first what is CLIPSVC?
CLIPSVC is an abbreviation of Client License Service and it is used to provide a support structure for all the Windows Store app. So, in order for the Windows Store apps to work, CLIPSV should be enabled on your computer. However, many Windows users are getting an error where CLIPSVC is not starting and they want to know how to enable the CLIPSVC again on their system.
Windows could not start the Client License Service (ClipSvc) service on the Local Computer
Before going to the methods, you must know that you need to manually trigger clipSVC service via the Services app. To do that, open Services from the Start Menu. Find Client License Service, right-click on it and click Start. This method you will be able to enable clipSVC on your computer.
How to enable CLIPSVC in Windows 10
If CLIPSVC is not starting in Windows 10, follow these methods to enable it.
- Merge a Registry Script
- Reset Microsft Store apps
Method 1. Merge a Registry Script.
You have to create a Registry Script and merge it to start CLIPSVC service on your computer.
Warning:
You are going to run a registry script on your computer that alters certain keys on your computer. This may cause some errors. Thus, we would recommend you create a system restore point first if you haven’t created one yet.

2. Then, click on File > Save as on the menu bar. Save it with a .reg extension.
3. Now, right-click on the .reg file and click on “Merge” to run the script file and merge the changes with the registry keys.
You will be asked to confirm your action, do that, just click on “Yes” to confirm the merger.
4. Then, restart your computer or excute the following command in Command Prompt (as an administrator) to enable CLIPSVC in Windows 10.
net start clipsvc
Method 2. Reset Microsoft Store apps.
if the script does not fix the problem, try resetting Microsoft Store apps from PowerShell.
1. Open PowerShell as Administrator.
2. Type and execute the following command:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.Services.Store* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}
3. Wait for it to complete and see if the problem persists.
If don’t want to run any command, open Settings (Win + I) and select Apps. Find Microsoft Store, select it and click Advanced options > Reset.
