Step 5. Now, you select your preferred language and keyboard options.
Step 6. Next, you click Repair your computer to go to step 7.
Step 7. Wait for Startup Repair to scan your computer for Windows installations, then you will select your installation from the list the tool presents
Step 8. Move on, you select Startup Repair from the recovery options. The tool will automatically will begin scanning your computer system for any issues and will attempt a repair.
Step 9. Finally, you restart your computer and check if error code 0xc0000225 is resolved.
Solution 2: Rebuild the BCD manually
This method is similar to the solution above but with a few differences. Here are the steps to fix error 0xc0000225
Step 1. You need to boot your computer from the Windows installation media
Step 2. Then you select your preferred language and other options.
Step 3. Next, you click on Repair your computer.
Step 4. Now you choose the Windows installation drive, (which is normally C:\) and click Next.
Step 5. When the System Recovery Options box appears, you select Command Prompt.
Step 6. At this step, you type the following command and hit Enter:
bootrec/rebuildbcd
Step 7. When the command asks to add Windows Installation, you click Yes.
Step 8. Finally, you restart your computer and check if error code 0xc0000225 is resolved.
Solution 3: Troubleshooting using Command Prompt
If your computer’s hard disk is of UEFI, you can use this method to fix error code 0xc0000225. To do that, follow these steps:
Step 1. First of all, you boot your computer from the Windows installation media
Step 2. Then you choose your preferred language and other options.
Step 3. Next, you click on Repair your computer to go to step 4.
Step 4. Now you select “Troubleshooter” > “Advanced Options” > “Command Prompt”.
Step 5. At this step, you type diskpart and press Enter to load the utility.
Step 6. You select the volume labeled ESP then press Enter.
Step 7. You can assign any letter to the volume (Z) then press Enter.
Step 8. You now click Exit to go back to command prompt.
Step 9. You type bcdC:\windows/s Z:/f UEFI and press Enter to open UEFI environment boot files.
Step 10. Finally, you can close the command prompt then restart your computer. Check if error code 0xc0000225 is resolved.
Solution 4: Disable early launch anti-malware protection
Error code 0xc0000225 can also be caused by installed anti-virus program that prevents its run. To do that, follow these steps:
Step 1. You boot your computer from the Windows installation media
Step 2. Then you choose your preferred language and other options.
Step 3. Click on Repair your computer to go to step 4.
Step 4. Now, you select “Troubleshooter” > “Advanced Options”.
Step 5. Go to “Startup Settings”.
Step 6. At this step, you just click on “Disable early launch anti-malware protection”.
Step 7. Finally, you restart your computer and check if error code 0xc0000225 is resolved.
Solution 5: Delete Empty Partition
If your computer’s hard disk has an empty partition, it will cause confusion to your system, leading to the error code 0xc0000225. To delete Empty Partition, follow these steps:
Step 1. Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Manage your Computer Settings
Step 2. Now you need to search for and locate the empty partition (EFI) and delete it.
